Bouger
Waaw, Saint-Louis,
Senegal

Bouger is the tiltle of a solo exhibition at Galerie Éthiopiques, Saint-Louis, Senegal.
The work references the local architecture the metal pieces are inspired by the linear element in the towns architecture and the informal nature of some of the structures and buildings whihc shifted regularly. The drawing series is made up of research at the Langue de Barbarie a sand bar inhabited by a fishing community. I visited the area regularly and spoke to locals about the threaths to thier way of life due to industrial fishing methods, climate change and the effects of overcrowding on the location.
I made this work during a residency period at Waaw, Segeal.
This project was supported by the Arts Council of Ireland’s Travel and Training Grant.
